The Antietam Institute invites the community, history enthusiasts, and families alike to celebrate the season at our Holiday Open House. This special festive gathering will bring together holiday cheer, local history, and a very special appearance by Civil War Santa.
The event offers a unique opportunity to explore the Institute’s latest historical research, browse a curated selection of Civil War literature, and meet prominent local authors. Guests can enjoy complimentary holiday refreshments, hot cocoa, and seasonal treats while mingling with fellow members and neighbors.
A highlight of the event will be the arrival of Santa Claus (@ 2:15), appearing in authentic 1860s period attire. Inspired by the famous wartime illustrations of Thomas Nast, Civil War Santa will greet children and adults alike, listen to holiday wishes, and pose for festive family photos throughout the afternoon.
